Office Emergencies

Abstract: Office emergencies can arise from procedural complications or from what was thought to be a routine office visit, and health care providers must be aware of and prepared for these emergencies. This monograph specifically addresses procedural complications and common and poten-tial medical emergencies that can occur in the outpatient set-ting. Recognition and identification of an emergency as well as training, tools, equipment, and management protocols needed to address the emergency are reviewed with a special emphasis on the prevention of such complications.
