Vulvar Disorders

Abstract: Vulvovaginal conditions are myriad, including commonly encountered conditions, chronic forms of common infections, autoimmune disorders, inflammatory disorders, vulvar manifestations of systemic diseases, trauma and iatrogenic injury, and vulvodynia. These conditions can substantially interfere with women's sexual function and sense of well-being. Obstetrician-gynecologists often will be the first physicians to encounter patients with these conditions. In many patients, these conditions can be easily treated with medication or lifestyle modification. However, in other patients, surgery or referral to a specialist may be required.
